The construction contract for the new metro line in Athens, was signed by the company “Attiko Metro SA” and the association of companies “J&P AVAX SA” – GHELLA SpA – ALSTOM Transport SA” in the presence of the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Costas Karamanlis.
The contract covers the construction of the 12.8km Section A, which will run from Alsos Veikou via the city centre to Goudi, with 15 stations including interchanges with lines 2 and 3.
The PM, welcoming the signage of the contract, said that “It will serve the most densely populated areas, will add significant value to properties, and will provide access to the Metro at emblematic areas”.
For Line 4, budgeted at 1.8 billion euros, 22 construction sites will be developed, from Alsos Veikou to Goudi and Katehaki.
The U-shaped Line 4 consists of two radial legs to Galatsi and Marousi, as well as one central part that runs through the center of Athens. Its total length is 38.2 km with 35 stations in total once completed, and it incorporates five discrete individual sections.
The new line will include 20 automated trains, without a driver and is estimated it will serve 340,000 passengers on a daily basis.
